Macular Degeneration

By

Macular degeneration is an eye disease that upsets the structure of the macula, resulting in loss of function, ultimately leading to vision loss. Macular degeneration is more common in patients over the age of 60, the main symptoms being blurry and/or distorted vision.

The disease can be categorized into two types: dry macular degeneration and wet macular degeneration. Dry macular degeneration occurs when deposits and extra pigment collect in the center of the retina. With wet macular degeneration, leaky blood vessels grow underneath the retina.

Digital Eye Strain

By

Digital Eye Strain is a common condition that occurs when your eyes get fatigued from intense use, such as staring at computer screens, cell phone and other digital devices. Digital eye strain symptoms vary but the most common are:

  • Sore, tired or dry eyes
  • Headaches
  • Blurred or double vision
  • Burning or itching sensation in eyes
  • Difficulty focusing
  • Neck, shoulder or back pain

If you’re experiencing symptoms of digital or computer eye strain, a Glasses Galore location can offer treatment.

Glaucoma

By

Glaucoma is a serious condition in which the optic nerve of the eye (which carries information from your eyes to the visual center in your brain) is slowly compromised, resulting in permanent loss of vision.

There are no early warning signs of Glaucoma and damage is irreversible which is why it is extremely important to see your eye doctor for regular eye exams. Your doctor can perform a variety of tests to make sure your eyes are not affected by glaucoma, and will make recommendations for appropriate treatment if they are.

Dry Eye

By

Dry eye is a common yet annoying eye condition that occurs when your eyes don’t have enough natural tears to lubricate and nurture your eye. Although your dry eye symptoms may come and go, if they’re more regular than not, you should come in to your local Glasses Galore for treatment. Your eye doctor can treat a host of dry eye symptoms, such as:

  • Stinging, burning eyes
  • Increased irritation from smoke or wind
  • Redness in eyes
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Blurred vision
  • Difficulty wearing contact lenses

Cataracts

By

Cataracts are a condition most commonly caused by aging in which your natural lens becomes cloudy causing your vision to be blurred. Other common cataract symptoms can include:

  • Decreased night vision
  • Sensitivity to light and glare
  • Fading or yellowing of colors
  • Clouded or dim vision
  • Seeing “halos” around lights
  • Double vision in a single eye

Cataracts are not curable, but they are treatable. If you have cataracts and are looking for simple ways to improve your vision, our Glasses Galore team can help. We offer comprehensive cataract treatment using advanced technology by eye doctors with years of expertise.
